The nurse called telling me that they had to post another sign on the secure unit doors. It wasn’t enough that one had to use a numerical code to get out.

He presents so well that he just mingled with groups of visiting people and “made his escape”.

Thankfully, someone in the group of visitors suspected he was not to be on the lam and would return him to his unit.

PS I had a dickens of a time with the codes as one code to enter and a diff to leave.

He is one smart cookie. Understand about the codes..two would be extra hard to remember. We just had to know one for where my mother in law was. They did change the one when she was at assisted living, because they had let her come out to the other side on occasion and she told the front desk that since she knew the code, which she did not, that she was going to leave with so and so that night. They quickly changed the code. She presented well too, and that presents it’s own set of problems. So, thankful that another “angel” spotted him and got him back to safety. Blessings on your day…hugs…and prayers..Mary Lou

Goodness, he requires so much vigilence! I’m glad that everyone is on their toes, including the visitors!

when my dad was in the assisted living home, the residents used to stand by the door to slip out when you did. They also would stand by the code box and watch you enter the code, we would re direct them back to the common area and slip out before they realized it.

We have to watch for “helpful” visitors all the time who let patients off the unit when they ask. When I worked in the community I have a book with a list of codes for all the facilities I visited. If I forgot it I was in trouble.
