The nurse called, “He’s asking for Mom. He wants to go buy books and his Mom always takes him.”
I explained that we visited the library often and he was wanting me.
Little did I know that he looks upon me as his mom now. Not surprising as I’ve read it could happen. We had several calls, leaving him confused, trying to find “Jean” and not being able to find her.
In the next breath, he sounds so totally happy and normal that people would doubt me. His former employer called and Wayne knew him right off, called him by name. They had a short conversation that went well.
Interestingly, Buddy is totally not himself today, staying close to Wayne. When he (Buddy) sleeps, he dreams and moans and groans. Maybe he senses the situation.
This week, he has started talking himself thru various steps of dressing, etc. He held his slippers in one hand and jeans in the other, “I guess I should put these (jeans) on first.”
He removed his shirt (a dressy favorite), “Guess this is mine, I’ve come up in the world.”
Belts are a problem for him. After he successfully buckled up, “There” then patted the buckle.
Slipper on wrong foot, took it off, set both slippers side by side, “That’s better.”
It’s kind of sweet to listen to his “reasoning” as he does things.
