For the last couple weeks he’s been asking me if and when we will have a full moon. It was my pleasure last night to take him to the deck and show him his moon.

Tonight we walked to the end of our drive to marvel it’s brightness. In all the misfirings of AD, it makes me marvel how he remembers how much he loves the full moon.

Today I shopped for black dress shoes. Finally successful.

We got home and I told him I’d wear my “old lady shoes” around for a bit – they are way more conservative than I’m in the habit of wearing.

He surveyed the situation and said, “You’re not going to wear those, are you?”

How about that, folks:)

Drop off at day care has been much easier since I stressed he could “discuss it with Dr.***” at our October appointment.

Thankfully, he seems to remember that it is the wish of the Doc which I am honoring. When we park, I undo his seat belt and he hesitates just ever so slightly before getting out. Before, he would drop his chin, ask what we are doing and why, tell me how much he hated it. Then he’d get out of the car and just stand there.

This is such a small thing but so huge, also.

He was very quiet tonight.
“Tell me a story, Hon.”
He protested that he doesn’t remember any stories to tell. With a little encouragement I had stories galore from way back in the 50′s and 60′s.
We sat here, an evening spent quietly together. Nice.
His flying days basically have flown from his memory. I showed him some pictures – in one he is gassing up the plane before we took off. “That’s not me. That guy is skinny.” (Ah, Darling, and your point is – - -)
We have pics of my mother and father lifting our sons from the aircraft – he didn’t know anyone. Tomorrow he may.

When Wayne was still able to cut the lawn, if it rained on cutting day, I’d tease him that he’d been out on the deck doing a rain dance. It was really uncanny how many times “it worked for him”.

Today, after his meal, I told him we’d shower after his tummy settled. All of a sudden, terrible thunder and lightening started.

I poked my head in the living room, “Have you been rain dancing again?”

His smile was a mile wide and he had both thumbs up! He has an early appointment tomorrow and I wanted his shower done tonight – mornings are not a good thing in our life:)
