Don’t worry about me if I’m off line for a bit – all is well.
I didn’t realize how much effort goes into Buddy in a day. We took him to the cat hotel in the afternoon.
Seems like everything I did tonight was easier. He used to just sit on Wayne’s lap or sit by him. Now he is hanging around me, begging to be held. I assume he’s confused. Some mornings, he sits at Wayne’s bedroom door and lets out the longest yowl. This from a cat that doesn’t even meow normally.
Also, Buddy sits on the arm of my chair instead of with Wayne. Guess he can sense a difference.
Sorry to ramble on but I really noticed a difference not having him here.
Wayne just asked where Buddy was – explained. “Oh, he’s in the slammer, eh?”
Through all the fog, he still comes out with funnies now and again.
We’re getting new moldings put up tomorrow and rather than have Buddy and Master both upset, I sent Buddy off to the Cat Hotel til Thursday, Wayne will be at day care.
Wayne sat in the back seat with the cage on his lap and was talking softly to Buddy, kind of along the lines, “It’s Ok, Buddy.” and so on.
I asked if Buddy was afraid, “No, but I am!” He loved his own joke and it warmed my heart. Little glimpses of yesteryear.
He has known/not known me off and on for quite a long while. It shouldn’t bother or surprise me now, think I’d get used to it.
Anyway, last night, I tucked him in, told him I loved him and gave him a hug.
He answered, “I love you, too.”
This time the answer was different, can’t tell you how or why but it was. Out of curiosity, I asked him if he knew who I was.
“No idea, is that close enough?” Then he proceeded to laugh rather wildly, very unlike Wayne.
It bothered me a lot, still don’t know why. I’ve read where AD patients refuse to allow spouses to sleep in the same bed, etc. as they perceive them to be maids or housekeepers, etc.
So it seems I’m always in the middle of “preparing” but now I have a new situation.
After talking with several family, it may be that I’ll rent our home for a bit and let me sort life out.
It’s a bit intimidating an idea but I thought I’d approach our local RCMP office, schools and fire station.
Wayne built a wonderful room for me – it’s a combo extra guest room, storage and a place for me. He did the finishing touches in 2000, barely able to do the work. I didn’t know.
Anyway, I think I’ll lock it up and store some special items in there til I’m settled.
(Note: This was a huge room in itself but we wanted in-house storage also. I got the idea one night to “take” 24″ from 2 sides of the room. Wayne built floor to ceiling shelves, closed them in with doors to match the wall color. They are barely visible unless one knows the situation. Just an idea if you are needing one:)
