It was wonderful to see residents keeping time to the Christmas music. Most are much further along in their disease than Wayne is so I was happy some were able to clap their hands or sing along.
One fellow was just really “into it” basically acting as a conductor of musicans.
The annual Christmas tea was very memorable.
Wayne and I sat with a couple. She is the resident. They are on thier second marriage and she was diagnosed 5 years into it.
Kudos to the volunteers and staff for such a lovely few hours.
(Sorry I have not updated as I should. His care home is about 40 km. away so time is of the essence. Tomorrow, I’ll try to read blogs – it’s been awhile since I sat down and reconnected – always think of everyone, though.)
Jean–we are here for you all the time–do not trouble about not posting. Seeing Wayne is important for him and you. Take care of yourself–we will be fine.
Music does have the ability to cut through a lot of mental blur.
Don’t worry about us, Jean. Keep up with what you need to do and get some much needed rest.
Music memory seems to stay a long time… I love to watch people sing songs when they cannot even carry on a conversation any more. I think the words are embedded deep in their soul.
Ditto what they said – don’t worry about us! You take care of yourself! You and Wayne have been in my thoughts!
Glad to hear of the good time and that you are able to spend time with your hubby…we aren’t going anywhere so post when you can:)
Take care of yourself first and your followers later. We will be here! I’m glad you enjoyed the Christmas tea and the music!
It’s funny, I remember a friend of mine whose father had it – he didn’t remember her, but did remember the songs as well. I guess they learned them early on and the memory stays. Isn’t that wonderful to know?
I miss you, but understand.
music has a way of connecting with memories deep down. I would burn big band music from the 40′s on a cd and give it to the care center for the residents to listen to. I also did some classical music for them. I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself and Wayne at the party. Take this time for yourself also and know I think of you often
Ruth took my comment! I totally agree. Music is the bridge, the peacemaker, the smooth road to connection and happiness. How nice to see Wayne in this setting.
Hugs
Good to hear from you. Take care on those road trips. I think of you often, my friend. You and Wayne remain in my prayers. Love, Annette
You made my day, Jean! Isn’t music a powerful medium?! … the universal language, some say.
As so many have said, please don’t worry about the rest of us … we’re here for you in spirit, always!
Hugs,
Myra
I am so glad you had a nice celebration. I remember Mother and I going to a Christmas service. They had songs, and everyone loved it….
Glad to see your post. I echo what everyone else said. We are here…we are going nowhere. Praying….hugs and blessings..Mary Lou
I echo what eveyone has said. The program wouldn’t let me post a while ago..hopefully it will let me post this time. We’re here…going nowhere…praying and hugs and blessings for you…
Please don’t apologize for not reading or writing. Real life does and should get in the way. As always you remain in my prayers.
Believe me, we are the least of your worries…and totally understand. We’re happy to hear from you when we do!
How wonderful that they do such nice seasonal things….theraputic for family and patient.
Blessings to you as these days go by.
