She came toward me, arms outstretched and a million dollar smile on her beautiful face. I hugged her and as I stepped back from our hug, she clasped my right hand as if to dance. I stopped, waiting for her next move and move she did, the most beautiful waltz I’ve had in years! She looked me in the eyes the whole while and sang a language only she understood but it was perfect for a waltz.
Her eyes sparkled and she smiled the whole dance. Finally she stopped and said, “I’m tired now and have to rest.” She took a seat in one of the chairs and drifted off to her own thoughts as I drifted away to Wayne’s room again.
I will never forget her, such a spirit. She wore dark navy silk PJ’s with stars and moons on them and I know she dreams of days gone by – such a lady.
What an interesting experience! It makes me want to know her history.
Beautiful! I love watching a person’s true spirit rise above the nastiness of disease.
I see it. How lovely.
What a beautiful story. I’m just catching up, and it is so nice to read about your wonderful family being there for you for the holidays. It sounds like just what you needed. Best holiday wishes for you and all your family!
You will find that the other residents will also become like your family. You will visit with them and they will tell your their stories, but the best things is that they will be glad to see you too, as your story shows
I am so glad that you are such a flexable person and could accept this amazing gift. You know what they say…beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
I am with Monica – how wonderful to accept the gift and go with it – you probably made both your days.
You painted a hauntingly beautiful story. Amazing.
Wow! As Grannie Annie said, I can close my eyes and see … I can feel this incredible experience. I’m so glad you’ve captured it for us.
Oh Jean, Your words painted the sweetest picture in my mind and heart. Your openness provided a wonderful experience for both of you!
Hugs,
Dolores
And you are such a lady!
…what an experience for you both!
