So I bought a poster size paper (at the Dollar store) with sports figures down the side. Printed his name on it hoping this will help.

Took Wayne round and round letting him “find” his door on his own – didn’t work well but may get better.

Anyway, all is well.

Two former co-workers took him for lunch today so he’ll probably sleep well this afternoon.

So, all his life, Wayne was fussy about not drinking from someone else’s glass or allowing anyone to drink from his.

You guessed it, tonight he couldn’t find his room and wandered into Ms. Pianist’s room (next door to his) and came out swallowing. I was laughing into and yet horrified for her. Offered him water and he declined saying he just had a drink:)

Think this is a case of letting sleeping dogs lie. My big concern is he may get sent back to the other ward if he starts going into her room. So – - -I’m printing an 8 x 10 of him and taping one on the door and one beside the door.

Cross your fingers for this, please.

After lunch today, I heard “uncertain” notes being played on the piano. Within about 30 seconds, the most beautiful music filled the room.

It was interesting in that the lady playing used to visit this care home to entertain the residents, as she now is.

Every second song was “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” till the staff distracted her. So sweet.

Even last year, Wayne could rip off duct tape and help me with boxes.

Christmas trees are always a dreaded chore and I walk around the fallen tree, wonder how I’ll get it in the box and go on to something else – as if that helps.

Anyway, today I boxed up one tree and by holding the box between the dresser and my legs, managed to duct tape it to death. Then I heard the dreaded “pop” and the tape was lifting.

Sat there a moment and then I remembered his tie downs from the work shop! Voila! Duct tape and tie downs work perfectly – - – only 2 more trees to wrestle.

I’ve mentioned that Wayne used to wear 2 wrist watches sometimes. One he received from his employer at 20 years and one from my Mom as a gift – this gift watch had quit working.

Being his name is engraved on the one watch, I slipped the gift watch off his wrist after he was admitted permanently.

We had taken the gift watch to be serviced and the fellow told us it would not help to put a new battery in as the interior was all corroded. Kind of was sad as he liked it and it was from Mom.

Anyway, I set the watch to the correct time and wore it home. My heart skipped several beats that evening when I saw it was keeping perfect time – and still is.
