Caught his eye as I entered the common area – he actually ran toward me tripping over a chair (empty:).

Lately, for some reason, he doesn’t seem to remember he has a room at the care home. I take him out to shop/walk/eat if it’s daytime and we tour the facility if it’s dark. At one point I suggested we go back to his room. He readily agreed and said he’d like to see it, has never been in it before. This puzzles me.

I stayed til later in the evening so I could wash/brush/change him into his jammies. When the nurse brought his meds, she asked if he’d like water or juice with them, “I guess you’re out of wine, eh?” How he still comes up with humor is really something and I love him for it.

    Isn’t that something?
The humor is such a gift, isn’t it?
    It has to help…you both~

Oh my goodness – I just love that humour! It is a gift. And so much nicer than grumbling.

He remembers you, tries to get to you, forgets he stays there now, and then has humor – man – guess you have to grab the good in this situation, must be so hard Jean. i wisht hey could find a cure for this.

    Love and hugs,

I love all the examples you have written of Wayne’s marvelous wit.
    So glad that sparkles through!

It is awful how they forget in a flash. I would visit my mother, then the aides would say five minutes after I left she would be asking for me….and not remember my visit. I find comfort that while I was there she was happy….
I love how their real personality always shines through….

I guess that their personality stays true even when much is forgotten. Thank God for that.

Oh, how we treasure those moments of fun, a glimpse into how they used to be.

There can be nothing greater than those glimpses that tell you he is still in there.

You know, I’ll bet they (nurses) love him for that, too!How precious are these moments!

Haha…too funny. I think the meds would go down smoother with wine too. ;-)

You are a marvel Jean, glad he still gives you these moments.
