Wayne has adjusted very well to his new home and lately been very full of smiles.
When I walked onto the unit today, a nurse came running with her cell, “Wayne must love Johnny Cash, he was dancing up a storm. See, we took a picture.”
Well, the close up picture was nothing short of comical as his hair was standing straight up and he had the hugest smile on his face.
After lunch I brushed his teeth (they basically can’t – he will allow me)
I wet a warm facecloth and told him we needed to wet his hair so it would be smooth after I combed it. I kind of did a dance and sang foolishness as I wet and combed his hair – he didn’t fuss at all – usually he gets frantic. When we got to the dining room again, the nurses made a big fuss over him.
The sweetest part which I will never forget is that he said, “You’re so nice” when I did his hair. Skippity, skip, skipitty, skip:)
So, so sweet!! Makes my heart sing for you! It’s so good to hear that Wayne’s adjusting and doing well in his new home.
Johnny Cash could set us all to dancing and singing. Wayne knows!
He never forgets who loves him:)Glad he is doing well at the new place.
Awww, Jean – how wonderful to have this happy moment with Wayne.
I’m glad he’s fitting into his new home so well.
Sending lots of hugs
Gosh – I think that is so sweet and so sad at the same time. I just get so confused – I know you must too. I am glad he smiles – he must have been that way long before – all smiles. Hugs.
I know that must make your heart skip a beat. Thank God for small favors.
Yes, take joy in the small things.
Thankful you had a happy visit!!!
Jean–good for you–all around. Able to care for Wayne. And able to take joy from his sweet response.
Ah, isn’t it the little things that mean the most?
So happy for this precious share!
